The New Year is upon us and once again it is time to celebrate another trip around the sun wine country style. Whether you are looking to toast 2016 over a formal gourmet dinner with friends and a little bubbly, or dance your way into 2017 with world class cocktails and live music, Napa Valley provides the perfect backdrop for the party of the year. The premier event in Napa for ringing in the New Year promises to be at Meritage Resort and Spa. Guest will have the option to choose one of two luxurious dining options before welcoming 2017 in the ballroom with music and dancing. The “Taste of the World” dinner option will take place in the Carneros Ballroom and feature mouth watering cuisine from around the globe presented by internationally trained chefs. The feast includes the opportunity to chat with the culinary team about their creations and enjoy some live jazz. For a more traditional meal ala Napa Valley, choose the “Winemaker Dinner with Trinitas Cellars” held in the Estate Cave. Enjoy an intimate reception in the cave, and then treat yourself to an epic four course meal with each course expertly paired with Trinitas wines. After dinner the party really gets rolling with the Meritage Ballroom Celebration. Dance to your favorite hits with live music provided by Take2, imbibe delicious adult beverages, and fuel up on small bites before the midnight toast and balloon drop.

Insider tip: Stay the night at the resort and kick off 2017 with a magnificent breakfast, served with a side of football and parade floats at the New Year’s Day Sparkling/Champagne Brunch in the Carneros Ballroom. Tickets are $85 for adults and $35 for kids 4 – 15 years old.

Ride the rails this year while ringing in the New Year on the Napa Valley Wine Train. The festivities begin at the station with a Parisian style reception where you will enjoy sparkling wine and nibbles while the crew readies the 100 year old train for departure. On board, you will dine on a 4 course masterpiece presented by Executive Chef Donald Young as the train gently rolls through the Napa Valley countryside. Once back at the station, the party continues with a DJ and dancing along with caricature artists and a cabaret club. A souvenir photo is included, along with rides to select lodging after the festivities have ended.

Insider Tip: Show up early and pre-game your New Year’s celebration at Oxbow Public Market located a block down from the Wine Train Station. Share an appetizer of oysters and a glass of bubbly rosé at Hog Island Oyster Co.. Always an extremely fresh selection, we recommend to Kumamotos if they have them.

Ring in 2017 Napa Valley style with a boot stomping dance party served up live and loud at Silo’s, featuring the country infused southern rock flavors of The Cripple Creek Band . Hosting nationally touring acts and local talent, its own in house craft beer brewing facility, and with its convenient downtown location, Silo’s is easily one of the premier live music venues in Napa. The band will rock two shows, one for the early birds and one for those who want to dance their way into the New Year. Each show will include dessert, a glass of champagne or a shot, and party favors, and the late show will provide more champagne to toast with at midnight.

Insider Tip: Hungry after the 7:00 show or need to grab a bite before the 10:00? Angele is right next door to Silo’s and serves delicious French inspired dishes in French Provencal setting(wood beamed ceiling, bay leaf garlands, candlight). The bone marrow and a glass of Cab will get you through the evening.

For the die hard foodie and wine enthusiast, the New Year’s Eve six course tasting menu event at Harvest Table is not to be missed. Celebrated in the Valley for its use of locally sourced artisanal products, farm to table approach to fine dining, and meticulously curated collection of wines, Harvest Table represents the elevated Napa dining experience. Head Chef Levi Mezick will be bringing new and innovative culinary creations for this one special night, and with such dishes as Shigoku Oysters with Caviar and White Truffle Risotto, the dinner promises to be one of the highlights of the New Year celebration.

Insider Tip: After the decadent meal, there should be plenty of time left in the final evening of 2016 to head into downtown St. Helena for a nightcap. Cook Tavern is a 5 minute Über from Harvest Table, and mixes some of the finest craft cocktails this side of the valley. Try the “Charlotte Amalie” for some wild flavors, or just go all in with a shot of “The Real Fireball”.
