Join National Geographic Explorer in Residence Tara Roberts for an inspiring evening as she shares the story behind Written in the Waters: A Memoir of History, Home, and Belonging. After seeing a photo of Black scuba divers exploring slave shipwrecks, Tara set off on a global journey—from Africa to the Caribbean—to uncover hidden stories of resilience, identity, and legacy.

As the first Black female explorer featured on the cover of National Geographic and the 2022 Rolex National Geographic Explorer of the Year, Tara brings untold history to life with powerful reflection. Her story, also featured in the acclaimed Into the Depths podcast, offers a moving exploration of remembrance, belonging, and the human spirit. Don’t miss the opportunity to experience her story live.
